Who we are

Our story.

The fascinating chronicles that have shaped our existence. There's quite a tale to be shared from whence we came.

Founded in 1994

ShareWORLD University, formerly known as the Institute of Management, was founded in 1994 by Prof Jack Makhaza and Dr. Pamela Brook. It is located in Malawi and has gained recognition and accreditation over the years. In 2007, it was accredited as an Open University by the Government of Malawi.

The University is mandated to teach three main aspects: how to think, how to relate, and how to challenge. Its mission is to "seek to bring about the best in others," while its motto, "Rerum Cognoscere Causas," translates to "to know the cause of things." The University's slogan is "Sharing with others culturally correct."

Aligned with the global agenda for sustainable development, ShareWORLD Open University envisions a future where education is a catalyst for positive change. The university aims to provide quality education while enhancing training opportunities and access for students from diverse backgrounds. This commitment is in harmony with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 10, which focuses on reducing inequalities. ShareWORLD Open University recognizes the transformative power of education in breaking down barriers and creating a more equitable society.
